Pelham, ON – CUPE Local 1287 and the City of Pelham are pleased to announce that they have negotiated and ratified their first ever collective agreement. The negotiations took place between June and August 2020. CUPE Local 1287 now represents all non-managerial employees of the municipal public works department. CUPE members perform tasks such as beautification, cemetery maintenance, road repair, winter service (labour), water operations, park maintenance, facility repair, construction management, planning and auditing of plans. All CUPE members work under the protection of a collective agreement called a collective agreement. Your local union negotiates the terms of the agreement. Elected local union leaders also work with the employer to resolve workplace issues. The freely negotiated agreement includes 874 full-time, part-time and casual workers working in most regional departments.
